The PUWA brand is the result of a collective collaboration of experts from the University of Tehran, which began its activity with the aim of developing new portable air purification technologies. Our focus is on producing products that are based on research, data, and precise engineering design, and that compete on a global level in terms of science and performance while maintaining the beauty of design.

Globally, there is no specific standard for testing and certifying UV sterilizer bottles, but reputable companies such as the American brand LARQ use a microbial test method based on E. coli bacteria as an indicator microorganism. In this regard, PUWA product tests have also been conducted using the same method and under controlled conditions at the University of Tehran Microbial Laboratory to allow for scientific and accurate comparisons.

The results of multiple tests showed that under completely similar conditions, the E. coli inactivation rate of PUWA product was 99.999%; while the American sample reported a value of 99.98% in its official test. These tests were repeated in several stages and even with both products in the same laboratory environment (University of Tehran Microbiology Laboratory) to ensure that the difference was not due to environmental conditions or measurement error. In all cases, the performance of PUWA product was superior to or equivalent to the global reference sample. (Appendix 1)

Since no national or international organization has defined an independent standard for UV-based disinfectant bottles, the criterion for evaluating these products in the world is the logarithmic reduction rate of the indicator bacteria E.coli in accredited laboratories. The official test report of the University of Tehran is attached as a reference for evaluating the product’s performance in this document.

The series of research, engineering design and academic tests of this product are proof that PUWA is not just a consumer product, but a scientific and localized technology. Our goal is to create confidence in end users and organizations for whom health and water quality are vital.

  • 1. Ultraviolet source: Life span of more than 100,000 hours. This means that if the product is used 10 times a day, it can be used for 164 years!
    2. Fast and accurate purification process: In just one minute, 99.999% (five logarithms) of microbes are reduced, which is a very important parameter in the product, which is the reason why this product is superior to all the handful of global competitors.
    3. Battery: 900 mAh battery that is capable of maintaining a charge for at least 60 uses; meaning that the product can be used for 10 to 20 days without needing to be recharged, depending on the amount of daily use.
    4. Easy charging: This product is equipped with a USB TYPE-C port and, using POWER DELIVERY (PD) technology, can be charged with a variety of chargers at different power levels. This feature increases ease of use, reduces restrictions on charger selection, and speeds up the charging process.
    Durable body: The body of the germicidal cap is made of PP (polypropylene), which is food-grade and highly resistant.
